ALCAMO O BIANCO ALCAMO

Produced on the hills of Alcamo and partially in the territory of other contees of the province of Trapani, with the grapes of Catarratto, with the eventual one adding of Damaschino, Grecanico or Tuscany Trebbiano, this wine has a yellow color clearly paglierino, with glares verdolini; neutral odore with light fragrance of the origin grape; dry taste, sapido, coolness, of yielded.
Minimal degree: 11,5° Abbination: fish.

Production area:
Alcamo and other territories as Calatafimi, Castellammare del Golfo and Gibellina in the province of Trapani; Balestrate, Camporeale, Monreale, Partinico, San Cipirello and San Giuseppe Jato in the province of Palermo.

MARSALA

The most ancient historical document that refers to the “Marsala” laughed them to 1773, year in which from the port of Trapani an alcoholic cargo left for England full of botti of wine preventively waves to put it in conditions better for resisting to the travel. Today this appreciated wine of Sicily is famous all over the world and is prepared in more types. The production zone comprises the entire province Trapani excluded the territories of Pantelleria, Favignana and Alcamo. The several types are obtained from musts, wines and their mixtures produced with the grapes of Grillo and/or Cataratto and/or Cataratto white and/or mascalese Pignatello and/or Calabrese and/or Nerello and/or Damaschino and/or Inzolia and/or Nero d' Avola, with added of ethilic alcohol of vitivinicola origin or wine acquavite and, if of the case, of cooked must, must concentrated and sifone (produced prepared with must) deriving from grapes cultivated in the zone of production. The variety of red grapes Pignatello, Calabrian, and mascalese Nerello is classified to the preparation of the “Marsala Rubino”.

The wines “Marsala” are classified on basis of the duration of the aging, in “Fine”, with minimal aging of a year; “Superiore”, with the minimal aging of two years; “Superiore Riserva”, with the minimal aging of four years; “Vergine and/or Soleras”, with the minimal aging of five years; “Vergine and/or Soleras stravecchio” and “Vergine and/or Soleras Riserva”, with the minimal aging of ten years. The wines “Marsala” are distinguished also for the colour: gold (golden colour more or less intense), amber (more or less intense amber yellow colour), rubine (red colour rubine that with the aging it acquires reflected amber), and for the sugar content: “dry”, “semidry”, “sweet”. All the “Marsala” introduce characteristic sapore and scent. The alcoholic degrees of the wines “Marsala” are following: Marsala Fine: not inferior to 17° for distillation; Marsala Superiore: not inferior to 18° for distillation; Marsala Vergine or not inferior Soleras to 18° for distillation. Abbination: dessert.

Production area: he whole Province of Trapani excluded territories of Pantelleria, Favignana and Alcamo.

MOSCATO DI PANTELLERIA

The Island of Pantelleria (situated in the province of Trapani) is famous, beyond that for the wonderful landscapes and the interesting archaeological zones, also for the sturdy wines that are produced from the grapes of Zibibbo.
Two of these wines are:

  • Natural Moscato - from the color that goes from the golden yellow, more or less intense, to the amber one; characteristic and fragrante aroma of moscato; sweet, aromatic, characteristic tasty of moscato. Minimal degree: 12,5°. With a light withering of the grapes and a minimal degree of 17,5° it can be qualified as “naturally sweet wine”. It can be produced also in the types “sparkling wine” and “liquoroso”.
  • Passito - with the grapes subordinates to the traditional withering; it has amber, shining color; delicate aroma of moscato; sweet tasty. Minimal degree: 14°. It can be produced even in “liquoroso”one with minimal degree of 21,5°. Both “Moscato Passito” and “Moscato Passito Liquoroso” can carry the qualification of “extra” if to the odore and the tasty they introduce a greater fineness and detached aroma, if they have a minimal degree of 23,9° and have endured a period of aging at least a year.

ERICE DOC

The medieval Sicilian town of Erice, on the slopes of Mount San Giuliano in the province of Trapani, has been chosen as the emblem of this D.O.C. wine that is produced both in the territories of Erice and in those of Buseto Palizzolo, Valderice, Custonaci, Castellamare del Golfo, and the hilly areas of the commune of Trapani in the direction of Calatafimi and Salemi. One of the objectives of the Erice D.O.C. appellation is to give due recognition to indigenous grape varieties like Catarratto, Nero d’Avola, Grillo, Insolia, Frappato, Perricone, and Zibibbo. But other grape varieties like Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon are also used in Erice D.O.C., bringing an international dimension to the local producers.

SALAPARUTA DOC

The last DOC appellation attributed in the Province of Trapani has been recognized to red and white wines produced in the territory around the town of Salaparuta. Several grapes are recognized like DOC: Rosso e Rosso Riserva, Bianco, Inzolia, Grillo, Chardonnay, Catarratto, Nero d'Avola e Nero d'Avola Riserva, Merlot e Merlot Riserva, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah.

DELIA NIVOLELLI

Delia Nivolelli Doc is a wine produced around territories of Mazara del Vallo, Petrosino, Marsala e Salemi (Province of Trapani). This Doc includes several grapes as Bianco, Rosso, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Damaschino, Grecanico, Grillo, Inzolia, Merlot, Muller Thürgau, Nero d’Avola, Pignatello or Perricone, Sangiovese, Sauvignon, Spumante, Syrah.
